Brittany McDermott homered in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday, giving Knoch girls softball team a 2-1 victory at Deer Lakes.

The blast marked the junior's first varsity home run.

Winning pitcher Amanda Sheppeck worked the first six innings. Chelsea Martin got the save for the Knights (2-0), despite walking two batters in the bottom of the seventh.

Martin got the final out on a ground ball to second base.

Deer Lakes took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Knoch tied the game in the second when Sheppeck tripled and scored on a passed ball.
