Charles J. Fichter Sr.
Charles J. Fichter Sr., 73, of Evans City passed away Tuesday morning at the UPMC Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
Born in Pittsburgh, Nov. 14, 1935, he was the son of late Howard and Lillian Smith Fichter Sr.
Mr. Fichter was a member of Burry's Church, New Sewickley Township.
He worked at the Herman Corp. in Zelienople for 25 years and retired from Allegheny Metals as a production manager after 12 years.
Mr. Fichter was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and loved the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Urban Fichter, whom he married Feb. 27, 1960; two sons, Charles John "Jay" (Rachael) Fichter of Hesston, Huntingdon County, and Bradley Jay "Brad" (Julie) Fichter of Petrolia; a daughter, Mrs. William (Fawn) Thomas of Harmony; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Carrie and Andrew Fichter of Hesston, Logan and Cole Thomas of Harmony and Amanda, Megan and Bethany Fichter of Petrolia; and a sister-in-law, Irene Fichter of Westview.
<B>FICHTER</B> — Friends and relatives of Charles J. Fichter Sr., who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>A. Carl Kinsey-RonaLd N. Volz Funeral Home</B>, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Smith and the Rev. Mike Vanarsdale, his pastors, officiating.
