Peter’s Chocolates
Peter’s Chocolates, founded in Butler in 1938 by Peter and Mary Meliotis, has remained a landmark in Butler for 71 years.
In all those years there have been two owners, first the Meliotis and their son, DeWayne, and in the late 1990s the Steinheiser brothers, Seth, Rod and Dee. Having owned a large chocolate shop in the Erie Area for a number of years, Rod and Dee formed a partnership with brother Seth. In 2007 Seth decided to retire from the business with Rod assuming leadership role in the operation.
Rod says the best thing about running Peter’s Chocolates is that the employees have close to 77 years of combined experience making and hand dipping chocolate the same way Pete and Mary did years ago.
While some large chocolate shops have adapted modern ways, he believes quality and taste are lost in this process, hence most of our candies are still hand dipped. Each individual piece is unique in its own way.
Peter’s has 7 employees who proudly produce a full line of milk, dark, dietary and white chocolate candies.
We have expanded our chocolate candy line to include chocolate-covered grapes and chocolate meltaways along with the traditional favorite cordial strawberries and specialty Easter eggs. Stop and try some of our products over the holidays. Our salespeople would be delighted to help.
