When Clair Boring began painting houses at age 15, he never expected that his summer job would turn into a successful business.

Today, he is the owner of Clair Boring Painting and Services, which serves customers in the Butler area.

Since its start in 1968, the business has grown to include services such as painting, roofing, home remodeling and the installation of gutters, windows, siding and insulation.

“It just snowballed,” said Boring, who learned the skills of his trade by helping family and neighbors with home improvement jobs.

Boring graduated in 1975 from Clarion State College, now Clarion University, with a degree in business.

Once his education was completed, the business grew from a summer job to a full-time venture.
