Butler County's great daily newspaper

Chicora Medical Center

In 2008, the Chicora Medical Center introduced a new concept in senior living to northern Butler County, the “Continuing Care Retirement Community.”

A Pennsylvania state designation, CCRC allows a resident to move to and from all levels of health care and independent living, as needs arise or change.

At Chicora Medical Center, the CCRC concept is made even more appealing by the new home construction, which includes an integral garage, walk-in closets and maintenance free fireplace. With a sellout of the first units, new single-level townhouse/apartments, one or two bedroom, will be constructed as demand dictates.

Adding yet another feather to the cap of Chicora Medical Center was an appearance on the list of “America’s Top Nursing Homes” as published by Consumers’ Research Council of America. The Washington, D.C., based research firm has named the quality care at Chicora Medical Center among the nation’s best for several consecutive years now.

Offering personal care, skilled nursing care, out-patient rehab/physical therapy, and now the CCRC independent living option, Chicora Medical Center is a full service health care facility, a nationally ranked full service health care facility.

“We were certainly not surprised to be named again to the list of ‘America’s Top Nursing Homes,’ but it is always nice for our Quality Care Team to be recognized for the outstanding work that they do,” Administrator Daryll Datz proudly stated.

Datz, of Butler, is completing the Butler Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Butler County program, after Chicora Medical Center and its sister facilities were named “2008 Chamber Champions.”

Locally owned and operated by the Tack family, with more than 35 years of health care experience, the company’s highly trained staff celebrated both local civic accolades and their national ranking among long-term care facilities all in the same year.

As the residents of Butler and Chicora continue to learn about the CCRC concept of senior living, Chicora will open its doors several times this year for free community events. Each celebration is a great opportunity to see the new senior apartments and tour the award winning facility.

The wildly successful car cruise will be presented with Zambelli Fireworks on Aug. 22, for the 7th annual edition of the daylong festival. A schedule of free summer concert events will soon be released, and the first Quality Life Cup 5K fun run will offer nearly $800 in cash prizes to runners on July 11.
