Butler County's great daily newspaper

Cheryl Marshall

Volunteering is great way to get out and see the world around you.

Volunteering isn’t just giving up your time, it’s sharing your own time with people who enjoy it preciously.

I love going out into the public with diverse groups of people, but also staying in and helping out.

I am a Girl Scout and have been for seven years. I’ve done a lot of volunteering at nursing homes, with a variety of age groups, and different service projects.

I am very involved with the Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler. I help with Sunday school, church services, a variety of committees and church council.

I find myself helping a mixture of people in many ways. I am in a variety of clubs, but my main favorites would have to be the Starfish and WATCH programs at the junior high and intermediate.

I help my own peers through everyday struggles and controversies.

As I said before I love helping various groups. I volunteer my time, and I love seeing myself grow not only as a citizen, but as a young adult, whether it be helping out at Katie’s Kitchen or picking up garbage off the side of the road.

Because I like volunteering, I want to group up and volunteer my time where it is most needed.

I will volunteer my time in July in New Orleans for ELCA National Youth Gathering for church. I am not only volunteering my time, now fundraising, by my well work here in PA, will be returned in New Orleans helping build houses.

I know I’ll love it and I hope I get to do more activities like these around my area.

Helping people means not only the world to me, but the people who see people who care enough to appreciate it. I’ve made an array of friends through volunteering. I help when I’m asked anytime, and I also do it as I please.

I’ve even asked my friends to join along. They do and they love it just as much as I do, which means a lot.

Bottom line is to get out there and help the community, You’ll find a new inner self and it will change your life dramatically in a good way.
