William Henry Kiester

William Henry Kiester, 92, of Boyers died at 4:42 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Grove City Medical Center.

He was born in Coraopolis to Henry Bernard and Vernetta Mae Sulton Kiester.

He graduated from Butler High School in 1933.

During World War II, he was a radio operator in the Army Air Force for 46 months, 27 of which were in North Africa where he received a Battle Star for the Battle of Tunisia. He attained the rank of technical sergeant.

He worked for Armor Aluminum and McGinnis Plastering and retired from the Social Security records center in Boyers in 1982.

He was a member of the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Harrisville, where he was elder and clerk of session for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Bell Kiester, whom he married May 25, 1946; three children, David (Dina) Kiester of Aurora, Colo., and their son Peter; Bruce (Barbara) Kiester of New Brighton and their daughter, Leigh (Christopher) DeGraaf and their sons, Jacob, Gideon and Levi of Cambridge, Ontario; and Linda (Charles) Taylor of Rochester and their children, Ian and Lauren.

He also is survived by his brother, James Kiester of Sharon, and three sisters, Amelda (James) Bennett of Harrisville, Louise (Paul) Baseler of Grove City and Emma (John) Holtz of Harrisville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Margaret Love, Elizabeth Covert, Mary Ellen Dougherty and Anna Miller.

<B>KIESTER </B>— There will be no visitation. Burial was in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville. A memorial service for William Henry Kiester, who died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church with Peter J. Puliatti and Allan P. Moran officiating.Arrangements are by the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, Harrisville.
