Caroline Haid
Caroline Haid, 70, of Chicora died at 10 a.m. Tuesday at her home surrounded by her family after a short illness.
She was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Muensterappel, Germany, the daughter of Adam and Karolina Wagner.
She had three siblings who remained in Germany, a brother, Guenther Wagner, and two sisters, Erna Wagner-Bayer and Martha Wagner-Mannweiler.
She met and married Matthew Haid, April 10, 1959, in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, and they moved to the United States Aug. 30, 1959.
Caroline worked for 20 years at the Chicora Medical Center as a nursing assistant, where she took great pride in caring for patients. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for her plants and flowers.
Surviving are her husband, Matthew Haid; three sons, Michael (Donna) Haid of Chicora, Mark (Darla) Haid of Chicora and Matthew Haid of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren, Corinne, Caitlyn, Cody, Cameron and Devon Haid; a sister-in-law, Patricia Palmer of Pittsburgh; two brothers-in-law, John Haid of Pittsburgh and Edward Haid of Chicora; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Babe.
<B>HAID</B> — Friends of Caroline Haid, who died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev.
