Olga (Martin) Keyes

Olga (Martin) Keyes, 94, died peacefully Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, seven months after her husband of 67 years died at the age of 96.

Olga was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late John and Louisa Martin.

Olga moved to Springdale in 1925, where she and her extended family lived on James Street until she married and moved to New Kensington. She lived there until moving to Concordia five years ago.

She was a homemaker and a 50-year member of St. Joseph Church, New Kensington.

Known and loved for her big heart and compassion, she was the beacon who was looked to in troubled times.

Olga loved to dance, garden, read and travel. Always adventurous, at age 80 she climbed to the top of Machu Picchu in Peru.

Her relationships were lifelong, and she always focused on the positive. Olga accepted people as they were and took life as it came. Her quick wit and sense of humor never diminished.

Olga was adored by her sons, Phil and his partner, Jody Bikoff, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Bill and his wife, Mary Davis, of St. Paul, Minn., and Dennis and his wife, Marg, of Karns City; her daughters, Claire and her husband, Joel Aaronson, of Pittsburgh and Denise and her partner, Rob Lesko, of Cowansville; four grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Hallie Harenski and Christine Garrott; and a great-grandchild, Meadow. In addition she leaves Louis Fliss and Jerry Nameth as well as many other special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Keyes; brothers, John Martin and Peter Martin; and a sister, Sophie Nameth.

<B>KEYES</B> — Family and friends of Olga (Martin)Keyes, who died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, will be received from 10:30 a.m. Monday until the time of parting prayers at 12:30 p.m. in the <B>John F. Krupa Funeral Home</B>, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, 724-337-7504. A Christian funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart St. Peter's Cemetery, Frazer Township.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
