SR teachers, board reach early contract agreement
SLIPPERY ROCK — The teachers in the Slippery Rock School District have a new contact with the district.
The Slippery Rock Education Association reached an early bird contract agreement with the Slippery Rock School Board on Monday, the group's first in more than a decade.
The contract is effective July 1, 2010, and continues through June 30, 2013. The current contract is up June 30, 2010.
The average raises included in the new contract are 4.2 percent, 4 percent and 4 percent over the three years, respectively. Average dollar increases for those amounts are $2,490, $2,473 and $2,571, respectively.
Board members approved the agreement unanimously.
The last two contracts between the association and the board were reached after the then-current contracts expired, with threats of a strike happening both times.
Most recently, in 2006, teachers worked under an expired contract for two years before settling a new one.
