Moniteau pulled to within one win of claiming the KSAC South girls basketball title by posting a 50-41 home victory over Karns City Tuesday night.

The Warriors (16-5, 13-3) trailed 20-18 at halftime before outscoring the Gremlins 32-21 over the final two quarters.

Maura McCaslin paced Moniteau with 13 points, eight assists and five steals. Alex Guercio and Kathleen Harding added eight points each.

Ashley Campbell led Karns City with 18 points, sinking 10 of 12 free throws.

Moniteau can clinch the KSACSouth with a win Thursday at A-CValley.

<B>Oil City 106, Slippery Rock 63 (girls); Oil City 96, Slippery Rock 68 (boys) — </B>Finishing first individually or in relays for the Rockets girls were Katie Kosiorek, Hannah Parsons, Nicole Moraitis and Chloe Pizor.Every Slippery Rock female swimmer posted a season-best time in the final meet of the season.On the boys side, Ken Tibbens, Kyle Hawk, James Udischas, Jacob Johnston and Andrew Opalewski finished first individually or in relays.Opalewski broke the school record by swimming the 100 freestyle in 51.72 seconds. He also anchored a come-from-behind victory in the 400 freestyle relay with a split of 50.53 seconds.Slippery Rock district qualifiers will compete in the District 10 meet Feb. 27 and 28 at Penn State-Behrend.
