With the win, the Warriors (15-5, 12-3) took one step closer to winning the KSAC South.

Senior Jason Clouse qualified for the WPIAL meet in the 200 freestyle, but the Butler boys swimming team split with Mars and Shady Side Academy Monday night, beatingMars 70-30 but falling to Shady Side Academy 60-42.On the girls side, divers Liz Manuel and Amber Zanella qualified for the WPIAL meet, but the Golden Tornado fell toMars 64-37 and Shady Side Academy 65-36.Butler now has seven divers in the WPIAL meet.The Golden Tornado will close out their season with home meet Thursday night against Seneca Valley.<B>Knoch 86, Northgate 65 (boys); Knoch 86, Northgate 76 (girls)</B> — Josh Tackett and Cole Blaugher each won three events as the Knoch boys swimming team earned its first win of the season last week.Tackett won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.38 seconds. Both were part of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays that also won.On the girls side, Hannah Zibert, Jessica Gross and Jill Vogus all swam WPIAL qualifying marks.Zibert won the breaststroke with a time of 1:15.10. The Seneca Valley wrestling team recently hosted a tournament that included eight teams.Along with the Raiders, Summit Academy, Avonworth, Elizabeth-Forward, Hampton, Mount Lebanon, Thomas Jefferson and Upper St. Clair all took part.SV won the tournament as Grant Evans (119 pounds), Dan Papst (135), and Nate Cully (145) each won their respective weight classes for the Raiders.Evans won by a close 2-1 decision over Patrick Slovonic of Thomas Jefferson.Cully, a returning champion, won by a decisive 7-1 decision over Cameron Fine of Elizabeth-Forward.In the 135-pound bout, Papst was losing 4-2 with 11 seconds to go in the third period when he caught his opponent, Josh Etzel from Elizabeth-Forward, with a reversal that also allowed Papst to get three near-fall points and win the bout 7-4.Placing second for Seneca Valley were Colton Schiever, Shon Schettler and Jordan Williams.Placing third were Jake Perri and Dave Bonetti while fourth place was won by Bart Lalonde and Grant Colton.In the team standings, Elizabeth-Forward and Hampton tied for second place.
