Pittsburgh hosts auto show
PITTSBURGH — Residents can use this Valentine's Day weekend to indulge a special kind of love — the one they share with automobiles.
The 2009 Pittsburgh International Auto Show runs Thursday through Sunday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
The auto show is a supermarket for anything on wheels. The convention center is filled with the latest domestic and foreign cars, trucks and SUVs from more than 35 manufacturers and exhibitors under one roof.
It's also a preview of coming attractions, where visitors can check out new models before they hit dealers' showrooms.
The show is presented by the Greater Pittsburgh Auto Dealers Association.
Dennis Baglier, owner of Baglier Buick GMC Mazda on Route 8 south of Butler and recently elected to the dealers association board of directors, is excited about the show.
"It's a great place for people to come out and kick the tires and have a chance to sit in the cars and compare them, one to another, all under the same roof," he said.
Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $10 while seniors 60 years old and older and members of the military can attend for $7. Children 12 and under are free.
The show provides an opportunity for families to see a variety of new vehicles all in one location, Visitors are welcome to slip into the driver's seat of a sporty convertible or pile their family into a roomy sport utility just for fun.
"If you're looking to buy a new car, or even if you just have a love for cars, this is a great opportunity to see what's out there," Baglier said.
