Christopher J. Smith, 25, of College St., Emlenton, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Thursday at UPMC Northwest, Seneca, Venango County, after an illness of 18 months.

Born July 25, 1983, in DuBois, Clearfield County, he was the son of Allen T. and Nancy A. Trimble Smith.

Chris was employed at Courson Racing Engines in Emlenton.

He graduated from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School, Foxburg, in the class of 2002.

A sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was sent to Parris Island, Beaufort, S.C., for boot camp and then was deployed to Iraq for a tour of duty. After returning, he was stationed at Camp LeJeune, Jacksonville, N.C., until his honorable discharge.

He was affiliated with the Scrubgrass Presbyterian Church in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

He enjoyed hunting; fishing; golfing; his black lab, Hank; eating wings from Quaker Steak & Lube, and especially all his family.

Surviving along with his parents are three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Wendy L.) Stohon of Price, Utah, Mrs. Terry (Judy A.) Pierce of Rossiter and Mrs. Walley (Barbara A.) McCall of Grove City; and one brother, Allen Smith Jr. of Saegertown and his wife, Paula. Also surviving are his paternal grandmother, Marguerite Smith of Glen Campbell; his maternal grandparents, Norman and Norma Trimble of Glen Campbell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.

<B>SMITH </B>— The family of Christopher J. Smith, who died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor David Bright of the Scrubgrass Presbyterian Church officiating.
