Mike's argument in favor of restrictions on family planning neglect an important aspect of my argument in support of President Obama's decision on this matter. While it is perfectly acceptable for a private entity to place whatever restrictions they choose on money lent or granted, the US government is not a private entity. It is--by statute--a secular government and unable to utilize religious principles in its decision making capacity, irrespective of whether the majority of Americans approve or disapprove of the action. It also must be remembered that the US is a constitutional republic, not a nation of unlimited majority rule.
