John T. Farone

John T. Farone, 86, of Bradys Bend Township died Wednesday at Sugarcreek Rest Home in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.

Born Oct. 20, 1922, he was the son of Pietro and Adelaide DeFabio Farone.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially in Canada and the western United States. He also enjoyed working in his garden and at the Lewis Dairy Farm in Kaylor. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandson.

He worked at Michigan Limestone in Bradys Bend for 15 years and at Penreco in Karns City for 27 years.

He served as a Tech 5 in the 2nd Reconnaissance Troop, U.S. Army during World War II, campaigning in the Rhineland, Central Europe and the Ardennes. He was a recipient of the EAME Theater Service Medal, a WWII Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and an ATService Medal. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 488 in Bradys Bend.

He is survived by a son, John T. Farone Jr. and wife Jeanne of Bradys Bend Township; two grandsons, Jason Farone of Fombell and Anthony Farone and wife Rhonda of Bradys Bend Township; one granddaughter, Shannon Farone and fiance Keith Burton of Harrisville; two great-grandchildren, Dakoda Farone of Rosiclare, Ill., and Rocco Farone of Bradys Bend Township; three sisters-in-law, Ada Farone of Roseville, Sally Griffiths of Butler and Peggy Robinson of Indiana, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara M. Farone, whom he married Sept. 9, 1946, and who died Dec. 1, 2005. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Angelo, Joe, Frank and Rolanti, as well as three sisters, Minnie, Josephine and Mary.

<B>FARONE</B> — Friends of John T. Farone, who died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME</B>, 105 Fourth Street in East Brady. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church in Bradys Bend, with the Rev. Joseph Bonafed, pastor of St. Patrick, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bradys Bend Township.A parish prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. American Legion Post 488 will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, and will conduct military honors Monday in the cemetery.
