Elva Crowley

Elva Crowley, 77, of Oil City, formerly of Butler, died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at UPMCNorthwest, Seneca, following an illness.

Born Sept. 14, 1931, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Santa Catanzarita Mittiga.

Ms. Crowley graduated from Union High School in 1949.

She was Roman Catholic by faith and was a member of St. Stephen Church in Oil City.

She was employed as a bottle packer by Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion for 22 years before an early retirement because of permanent disability.

She enjoyed flower gardening, playing bridge and was an accomplished baker.

On June 30, 1951, she married James A. Crowley.

She is survived by a son, Steve Crowley and his wife, Deb, of Oil City, and their two children, Royd and Kara Crowley, of Oil City. Her former husband also survives.

Also surviving are two sisters, Christine Connor of Rimersburg and Tona Silvis of Butler; a brother, Mike Mittiga of Harrisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Vince Crowley; two sisters, Betty Spatara and Mary Dunkle; and two brothers, Frank and Albert Mittiga.

<B>CROWLEY —</B> There will be no visitation for Elva Crowley, who died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Oil City, with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, officiating. Burial will be in the Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
