County players shine at PIHLA ll-Star Games

CASTLE SHANNON — Butler County hockey players made their presence felt Saturday during the PIHLA ll-Star Games played at the Ice Castle.

Seneca Valley senior Mike Rohm and junior Logan Pfeffer assisted on the game-tying goal with 59 seconds left in regulation of the Class AAA game.

Rohm then scored the game-winner 1:03 into overtime as the Southwest stars outlasted the Northeast, 8-7.

Nine county players found their way on to the scoresheet in the Class A game, but in a losing cause as their Northeast team dropped a 9-8 decision in overtime.

Knoch senior Shane Donnelly scored two goals with younger brother Neal getting two assists. Shane Donnelly's second goal tied the game with 1:05 left in regulation.

Evan Gorse of Knoch — named as an alternate for the game, but able to play — had two assists.

Freeport's John Reichenbaugh had a goal and assist with Yellowjackets' Jeremy Hepler and Shane Gallagher adding a goal each.

Double had an assist. Double's assist occurred on the game's final goal, which barely beat the final horn.Master and Double, along with goaltender and Butler senior Justin O'Donnell, play for Ford City this season as the Golden Tornado program isn't fielding a varsity team this year.
