II-VI makes layoffs in response to soft non- military optics markets; 70 gone in Saxonburg
SAXONBURG — II-VI has laid off 70 workers at its Saxonburg facilities and made other workforce adjustments at other facilities worldwide.
Craig Creaturo, chief financial officer and treasurer, said II-VI, a laser-optics manufacturer, was doing well up through October.
"But in November, we began seeing a significant drop off in our non-military business and had to make some work force changes," he said today.
About 500 employees remain at the Saxonburg campus with a total of about 2,300 globally.
