HARRISBURG — While all eyes are on the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania will have a lower profile inauguration day of its own.

Tom Corbett, the only Republican victorious in a statewide contest in November, will be sworn in today for a second term as state attorney general.

Auditor General Jack Wagner, a Democrat, will be sworn in for his second term. And Montgomery County venture capitalist Tom McCord, also a Democrat, will be sworn in as state treasurer.

One state official who will not be at any of those ceremonies is Gov. Ed Rendell, who will be in Washington.

HOOKSTOWN — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say an 8-year-old girl died after being mauled by a dog at a home in Hanover Township.State police say Brianna Nicole Shanor was outside shortly before 7 p.m. Monday but said she was cold and was going back to the house. Trooper Rocco DeMaiolo says she apparently went near the mixed-breed dog chained outside an old camping trailer. She was found inside the trailer.Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi says the girl was bitten in different places on her body, including her neck. The dog has been quarantined by an officer from Lawrence County.

BETHLEHEM — Developers are rushing to open an eastern Pennsylvania slot-machine casino by Memorial Day, but want to delay work on a hotel and shopping mall complex.Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem agreed to include a hotel and shopping mall as part of the deal to get one of 14 gaming licenses issued in Pennsylvania.Sands officials say the casino is still on track for a Memorial Day weekend opening. But they say the financial crisis caused them to halt work on the hotel and mall in October.
