PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia museum dedicated to Benjamin Franklin is set for an $18 million facelift.

Federal officials announced Tuesday that they will put $6 million toward renovating the Franklin Court museum.

Officials say that Pew Charitable Trusts will match that and contribute at least $5 million more that it helped raise from other sources.

The underground museum is suffering from a leaky roof and other problems. Many displays and exhibits are also out of date or out of service.

The 7,000-square-foot museum opened for the nation's bicentennial. It sits at the site where Franklin's three-story brick house once stood.

Officials say they don't know when work on the project would begin.
