BETHANY (W.Va.) — Seneca Valley High graduate Megan Gebrosky scored a career high 16 points to lead the Grove City College women's basketball team to a 64-60 road win over Bethany College Saturday.
Gebrosky, a freshman for the Wolverines, hit three 3-pointers, her final one putting Grove City ahead to stay at 52-50 with 7:12 remaining in the game.
NEW YORK — Rickey Henderson is a near lock to be elected to the Hall of Fame when voting results from the 10-year members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America are announced Monday.While Henderson was one of 10 newcomers on the ballot, this is the 15th and final chance for Jim Rice and Tommy John before their cases are passed on to the Veterans Committee.A 10-time All-Star who played from 1979-2003, Henderson holds the career records for steals (1,406) and runs (2,295), and his 2,190 walks are second to Barry Bonds' 2,558.He played for nine teams, winning the 1990 AL MVP award with Oakland.Just 23 players were on the ballot, the smallest group ever. The other holdovers were Harold Baines, Bert Blyleven, Andre Dawson, Don Mattingly, Mark McGwire, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Tim Raines, Lee Smith and Alan Trammell.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Rod Marinelli joined the Chicago Bears as a defensive line coach on Saturday, returning to his roots after becoming the NFL's first head coach to post an 0-16 season.Marinelli went 10-38 in three years with the Detroit Lions and was fired after failing to win a game this season. But before that, he was Tampa Bay's defensive line coach for a decade. The Buccaneers' line racked up 328.5 sacks under Marinelli, the most in the league during that span.
ORLANDO, Fla. — Annika Sorenstam and Mike McGee were married Saturday, four weeks after the Swedish golf star ended her Hall of Fame career.About 125 guests attended the afternoon ceremony and evening reception at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. McGee, the son of former PGA Tour player Jerry McGee, has served as managing director for her business brand since December 2006.
