Warren Magruder Trigg Jr., 94, an industry and engineering leader, died peacefully Friday of natural causes at his home in Basking Ridge, N.J.

His career epitomized the innovations in engineering and manufacturing of metals, chemicals and machines from the pre-World War II years through the 1970s. His 42-year professional life spanned positions at E.I. DuPont, U.S. Steel, Westinghouse and Spang & Co. and took his wife Margaret, and their five daughters to Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Minneapolis. By the time of his retirement, he held a dozen patents.

A dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather, and gentleman to all he met, he will be missed and remembered.

Warren Trigg was born May 25, 1914, in Pittsburgh. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1936. He did graduate study at Carnegie-Mellon University in 1937, in business management at the University of Pittsburgh in 1951 and was a graduate of the advanced management program at Harvard University, 1959.

Mr. Trigg was a life member of the American Institute of Chemists, belonged to the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and was recognized in Who's Who in Engineering.

Mr. Trigg worked in the U.S. Steel Research Laboratory in Pittsburgh from 1937 to 1946 in electrochemistry and metallurgy. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric for 21 years from 1946 to 1967, rising from general manager of the metals plant to executive vice president of Westinghouse Thermo King in Minneapolis. In these years he was responsible for starting up five new Westinghouse plants in Pittsburgh; Blairsville; Buffalo, N.Y.; Greenville, Ill.; and Louisville, Ga. From 1967 to 1978, he was the vice president of engineering and research and development with Spang & Co. in Butler.

Mr. Trigg married Margaret Katharine McLaughlin Trigg, his wife of 51 years, in 1940. He retired in 1978 and built a home in Butler, where he lived with his wife, Margaret, until her death in 1991.

An active member of the Butler community, he belonged to the Board of Trustees at Butler Memorial Hospital and was a longtime member of the Butler Country Club. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, hunting, swimming in the ocean and skiing. He also took pleasure in reading and playing bridge.

He moved to the Bernardsville-Basking Ridge area of New Jersey in 1998 to be near his daughter, Mary, and her family.

Warren Trigg is survived by four daughters, Nancy (John) Kaems of Maryville, Tenn., Patricia (David) Leahy of Denver, Virginia (Rick) Engelland of Northville, Mich., and Mary Trigg (Ron) Rapp of Bernardsville, N.J.

His eldest daughter, Suzanne O'Brien, predeceased him, as did his sister, Olive Criswell.

He also is survived by seven grandchildren, Faith O'Brien, Margaret Kaems, Kelly Kaems, Jason Engelland, Troy Engelland, Laurel Rapp and Sarah Rapp.

<B>TRIGG</B> — A funeral service for Warren Magruder Trigg Jr., who died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St Ursula's Church in Allison Park.Funeral arrangements are being made by the <B>Simons Funeral Home</B>, 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh.
