Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., features a display "Jade: Stone of Heaven" plus a separate exhibit of white elephants and other ivory pieces in addition to the permanent collection of hundreds of pieces of ancient and contemporary Asian art as well as Meissen porcelain. A Japanese New Year, or Oshoogatsu, program for children ages 4 to 10 on Saturday has a waiting list. Regular museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays; closed Mondays and holidays. Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Ave., is showing the architectural etchings and engravings of "Giovanni Battista Piranesi: Architecture and the Spaces of the Imagination" through Feb. 15. Continuing are "Worlds Away: New Suburban Landscapes" through Jan. 18, and "Life on Mars, the 2008 Carnegie International," through Sunday. This salon-style exhibition celebrates Pittsburgh's 250th birthday by featuring the work of 250 southwestern Pennsylvania artists from 14 counties. Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, glass, jewelry and fiber arts will be showcased, as well as work in less conventional mediums.
