Ruth M. 'Pat' Carmody
Ruth M. "Pat" Carmody, 76, of 409 E. Brady St. died Thursday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 24, 1932, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of James and Romaine (Wagner) Krone. At the age of 5, she was adopted and raised by her aunt and uncle, John and Sarah (Kron) Toomey.
She was a homemaker and had worked at Natili's Restaurant in Butler as a cook. Pat enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, bowling and playing bingo.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, and TOPS, also in Butler, where she had held various officer positions.
She is survived by two sons, Charles H. (Mary) Carmody Jr. of Butler, and Daniel L. (Judith) Carmody of York; four daughters, Mrs. Sara (Geoff) Kovacik, Mrs. Diane (Carl) Johnson, Mrs. Terry (Mike) Duffy, all of Butler, and Ms. Audrey V. Carmody of York; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and a brother, John A. Toomey of Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Carmody Sr., who she married Dec. 4, 1950. He died July 25, 2006. Also, she was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and six sisters.
<B>Carmody</B> — Friends of Ruth M. "Pat" Carmody, who died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St. The Rev. Pierre Falkenhan, pastor, will officiate.Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at the church, to recite the rosary.
