Pennington

Viola Anna Pennington, 89, of Bruin passed away Sunday evening of natural causes at her home.

Born April 29, 1919, in Porter Township, Midland County, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lucy Coots Risley.

Viola was a Protestant, and she was a longtime member of the Bruin Senior Citizens group.

She was employed for years as a custodian in the Karns City School District.

She was an avid and enthusiastic card player.

Surviving are one daughter, Jessie M. Snyder of Eau Claire; two sons, Gilbert Pennington and his wife, Saundra, of Eau Claire and Robert L. Pennington and his wife, Velma, of Bruin; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one son-in-law, Harold Scott of Colorado Springs, Colo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Harry G. Pennington, who she married May 21, 1937, and who passed July 26, 1985. Two daughters, Lois Scott and Judy Pennington, and one son, Keith Pennington, also preceded her in death.

Viola was the last of the seven siblings of the Risley family to pass away. She also was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

<B>PENNINGTON</B> — Friends of Viola Anna Pennington, who died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Main Street/Route 38, Eau Claire. Further visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Martinsburg Church of Bruin. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Matt VanGordon, church pastor, assisted by the Rev. Wade Berkey of Bruin United Methodist Church, co-officiating.
