Thrasher

David Jay Thrasher, 49, of Butler died Monday morning at his home following an extended illness.

Born July 30, 1959, in Kokomo, Ind., he was the son of Thomas J. Thrasher and the late Barbara Oakley Thrasher.

He was a 1977 graduate of South Dade (Fla.) High School and also graduated from Warner Southern College in Lake Wells, Fla., in 1983, with a degree in pastoral ministries.

He was a member of the North Main Street Church of God in Butler, where he sang in the church choir, sang in the Living Christmas tree for six years, and was active in the church youth group. David had attended Lifesteps in Butler, and was a member of T.O.P.S., at the Dunbar Center in Butler, the Civitan of South Dade, the Homestead Kiwanis Club, where he was Santa Claus at Christmas for special needs children, and the Kendal Church of God Choir, all in Florida.

Surviving are his wife, Cherida Kay (Klara) Thrasher, who he married May 26, 2001; his father of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, Kent Thrasher of Aptos, Calif., a sister, Julie Summers of Huntsville, Ala., and number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara; his grandparents; an uncle and an aunt.

<B>Thrasher</B> — Friends of David Jay Thrasher, who died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev.
