Velma J. Hilliard, 78, of Butler died Friday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.

She was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Butler and was the daughter of Ralph and Marie Douthett McKelvey.

She had attended the Presbyterian Church of Prospect. She was a member of the Butler County Humane Society.

She had worked for 19 years as an office worker in the Butler area as well as 15 years as a van monitor for the Butler School District.

She is survived by several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her loving companion, Merle Gall.

<B>HILLIARD</B> — There was no public visitation; and burial services for Velma J. Hilliard, who died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, were today at the Butler County Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Butler Township. Arrangements were by the <B>Jay Bryan Funeral Home</B>, Prospect.
