Arthur G. 'Art' Bartley
Arthur G. "Art" Bartley, 72, of Valencia died Monday afternoon at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born in New Castle, June 17, 1936, he was the son of the late George and Eva Perkins Bartley.
A telecommunications engineer, he had worked for North Pittsburgh Telephone Co. for 13 years and was a private contractor for 18 years.
He was a member of Valencia Presbyterian Church.
He currently was serving his second term as mayor of Valencia and had also served as a councilman.
He was a life member of the Valencia Volunteer Fire Department. He also belonged to the Valencia Historical Society.
He had served in the U.S. Army following World War II.
Surviving are his wife, L. Jean Quinn Bartley, who he married Sept. 4, 1956; two daughters, Cheryl "Cis" McCandless and her husband, Scott, of Valencia and Joni Raisley, and her husband, Terry, of Butler; two sons, Douglas Bartley and his wife, Jacqueline, of Wheeling, W.Va., and Timothy Bartley, and his wife, Debra, of Valencia; a sister, Lora Jane Bair and her husband, James, of Alibaster, Ala.; a brother, Norman Bartley and his wife, Nancy, of Dayton, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren.
<B>BARTLEY</B> — Friends of Arthur G. "Art" Bartley, who died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia. The Rev. Gary Weston, pastor, will officiate. Everyone is to please meet at the church.
