Fend

Jennie L. Fend, 80, formerly of Dutchtown Road, died Friday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family.

Born Jan. 17, 1928, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Schmidt Lesnik.

She was a graduate of Penn Township High School and lettered in varsity basketball.

Jennie was a homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family.

For many years, she bowled with the Bouquet Bowling League at Sherwood Lanes, and she worked as a volunteer for Special Olympics. She also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins games.

Mrs. Fend was always interested in politics and was proud to have been able to vote in the last election.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Butler.

Her husband, Charles R. "Chic" Fend Sr., who she married Oct. 16, 1948, preceded her in death Oct. 12, 2007. A brother and six sisters also preceded her.

Surviving are four sons, Charles R. Fend Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Butler, Edward P. Fend of Butler, Timothy J. Fend and his wife, Tammy, of Butler and Larry J. Fend of Prospect; four daughters, Mrs. George (Donna) Ochaba of Prospect, Mrs. John (Terry) Smith of Cabot, Carol L. Hepler of Butler and Joyce K. Fend also of Butler; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Jonathan, Nicole, Jennifer, Matthew and Jordan Fend, Gregory and Julie Ochaba and Lacy Hepler; three great-grandchildren, Gavin and Allie Fend and Harrison Lynch; and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Elinor Lesnik of Butler.

<B>FEND </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Jennie L. Fend, who died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Peter Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peters will meet at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
