Dale E. Peoples
Dale E. Peoples, 76, a longtime resident of Oakmont, died Thursday at his home.
Born on July 21, 1932, in Verona, he was the son of the late Arthur and Florence Hazelbaker Peoples.
Dale was a 76-year member of Oakmont United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir for 58 years. He graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology and was retired from Duquesne Light as a transportation engineer.
He had 31 years of public service in Oakmont Borough, serving on council for 25 years and serving as mayor for six years. Dale was active for 52 years in the Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department. He also participated in Lions Club shows before he was a 45-year member of the club.
Mr. Peoples served as president of the board of Verona Cemetery in Oakmont, was a member of the Oakmont Elks and F&AM 548. He was past president of the St. Irenaeus PTG.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Jo (Boggio) Peoples. He was the beloved father of Lisa (Paul) Witkovitz of Plum, Kim (Jim) Kornrumpf-Kristufek of North Carolina, Stacy (Mark) Davanzati of Butler and Erin (James) Premick of Verona.
He was the loving grandfather of Brian, Lindsay, Megan, Katlyn, Ross, Marcus, Amanda, Alexis and Brittany. He was the dear brother of William A. (Suzie) Peoples of Oakmont, Marian (Wayne) Altheide-Ritchey and the late Lettie Eiler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Peoples, who died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>BURKET-TRUBY FUNERALHOME CREMATION &ALTERNATIVE SERVICESINC.</B>, 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday and a Firefighter's Service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Oakmont Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Dunn officiating. Everyone please meet directly at the church. Interment will follow in the Verona-Oakmont Cemetery, Oakmont.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Oakmont Library or Oakmont United Methodist Church.
