Ethel R. Melvin, 90, of Sunbury Fields Lane, formerly of Irwin Township, Venango County, passed away Wednesday at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City after living there for three weeks.

Born in Franklin Township, June 30, 1918, she was the daughter of Roy W. Campbell and Emma K. Kroll Campbell.

She married William "Cloyd" Melvin Jan 10, 1942. He passed away Sept 16, 1986.

A devoted housewife and mother, Mrs. Melvin drove school bus for Moore's Bus Service of Clintonville for the Victory and Franklin Area School District for 27 years. She also worked at the G.C. Murphy in Franklin as a clerk.

She attended the elementary school at Mount Chestnut and also attended the Eakin Elementary Public School in Irwin Township and graduated from the Wesley High School in Venango County.

Mrs. Melvin was a member of Pleasantview United Methodist Church, where she played the piano for a number of years. She also had played the piano for the Wesley and Barkeyville United Methodist churches.

Gardening and crocheting were her hobbies, as well as baking wedding cakes.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Judith A.) Giesler of Slippery Rock, Mrs. Edward (Bette J.) Sommers of Mercer and Mrs. Kenneth (Barbara L.) Bobetich of Berlin, Germany; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Eleanor Ruth Campbell and Lois Pearl McCutcheon.

<B>MELVIN </B>— The family of Ethel R. Melvin, who died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St, Clintonville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
