Gladys Irene Emery

Gladys Irene Watson Emery, 87, of 114 Slippery Rock Road, Slippery Rock, West Liberty, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born in Portersville on June 24, 1921, she was the daughter of Harvey William Watson and Stella Irene Bauder Watson.

Her husband, Gaylord A. Emery, who she married Nov. 11, 1944, died Dec. 26, 1994.

Gladys retired in March 1991 from the Slippery Rock High School cafeteria. Prior to that, she had worked for 13 years at the A&P in Slippery Rock and Mercer.

She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock.

Surviving are two sons, Alan H. Emery of Slippery Rock and Steven G. Emery of Slippery Rock; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Karen Sue) Boettner of Butler; two sisters, Ms. Lena Mae Bester of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Mrs. Ed (Esther) Drane of New Castle; and a brother, Wendell Watson of Slippery Rock. Gladys also is survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Emery; a brother, Dean Watson; a sister, Doris Smith; and a grandson, Jason Emery.

<B>EMERY </B>— Family visitation for Gladys Irene Watson Emery, who died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, will be held from 1 until the service at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The Rev. Herbert Goetz of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be at the South Plain Grove Cemetery in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.
