The Butler County Symphony Orchestra has recorded a two-disc CD called "A Diamond Jubilee" to mark its 60th anniversary season.

Butler County Symphony Orchestra has released a selection-packed CD called "A Diamond Jubilee" in celebration of the group's 60th anniversary season.

The two-disc live compilation is chock full with 21 selections running nearly 2½ hours. "A Diamond Jubilee" features some of the symphony's marquee moments from the past two decades.

From the start of "The Star-Spangled Banner" to the final jingles of "Sleigh Ride," spectacular performances under the direction of conductor Elisabeth Heath Charles and former conductors Robin Fountain and Brady Allred are captured with superb sound quality.

Concert selections range from classics from Beethoven, Mozart and Tchaikovsky to celebrated 20th century pieces such as Aaron Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" and George Gershwin's "An American in Paris."

The CD is available at the symphony association's downtown Butler office at 259 S. Main St. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The cost is $16, and proceeds directly benefit the symphony association.Copies of "A Diamond Jubilee" will also be available at the "Holiday Gems" concert on Dec. 6 or any other 2008-09 performance. The Dec. 6 holiday show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium, 551 Fairground Hill Road.Presale concert tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the symphony association office.
