Paul J. Martin, 92, of Butler died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born June 16, 1916, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Paul J. Sr., and Margaret (McCafferty) Martin.

He had worked at W.J. Offutt's, for Loblaw's grocery store as manager of the meat department for 22 years and also Kroger's supermarket for 10 years, all in Butler.

He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

He was an avid golfer and belonged to leagues at both Stoughton Acres and Hiland golf courses, enjoyed going to casinos; and for the past 22 years, he had driven the children's Christmas and Easter trains at the Clearview Mall, where he was known as "Grandpa Choo- Choo."

A veteran of World War II, he had served in the U.S. Army Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Victoria D. (Holom) Martin, who he married April 14, 1942; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Paula J.) Warner of Butler; a son, David L. (Carolyn) Martin of Oil City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister: Garnet Martin of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

<B>Martin</B> — There was no visitation. Private services for Paul J. Martin, who died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, were held for his family. Entombment took place in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery in Butler.
