Mahlon S. Watson, 89, of Butler died Thursday at the Saxony Health Center.

He was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Bellefonte, the son of the late William Homer Watson and the late Carrie Edith Witherite.

Mr. Watson proudly served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 249 and American Legion Lyndora Post 778.

He was a maintenance worker for the Butler School District.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy I. Richey Watson; three sisters; and five brothers.
