Butler County cross country coaches named their 2008 All-County Team.

Seneca Valley runners Cam Stauffer and MeganPowell were selected as runners of the year.

Stauffer, a senior, battled injuries all four years, including plantar fasciitis this season that kept him out until early September.

Still,Stauffer won the Kiski and Central Catholic invitationals and finished second at the WPIAL championships with a time of 15 minutes, 51 seconds on the hilly Cooper's Lake course.

Stauffer placed 15th at the state meet.

Seneca Valley cross country coach Jim Nagle said watchingStauffer work his way back into running shape was remarkable.

"I figured he still could be one of the top runners in the WPIAL," Nagle said. "But to run to within a second of winning the whole thing is a testament to his will to succeed."

Powell, a senior, advanced to the state meet all four seasons and won her first state medal this year by finishing 22nd.

It was her second consecutive runner of the year honor.

Powell set course records at Kiski and North Allegheny.

"She is one of the toughest competitors, one of the finest people, and Megan also had over a 4.0 GPA," Nagle said. "I've been very lucky coach these past four years to have the opportunity to work with her."
