Roy R. Fisher
Roy R. Fisher died Sept. 5 after a brief illness in Richland, Wash. He was 82.
Mr. Fisher, a longtime resident of Evans City, was born April 13, 1926, to Roy Samuel and Hazel Burris Fisher.
He attended Evans City High School. After serving on various LSTs in the Pacific theater during World War Two and in peacetime Japan, he returned to Evans City and worked at the Mine Safety Appliances Corp. until his retirement.
Mr. Fisher was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Evans City and a member of the local VFW.
In recent years, he relocated to Richland, Wash., where he had always enjoyed visiting.
His wife, Patricia Percy Fisher, preceded him in death.
Roy R. Fisher is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Carol (Eugene) Polite of Evans City and Mrs. Joan (Joseph) Yasinsky of Butler; and six children, Mary Beth Fisher Krepinevich of Foley, Ala., the Rev. Margaret Fisher of Spokane, Wash., Greg Fisher of Seattle, Andrew Fisher of Jacksonville, Fla., Meta (Randy) Wingard of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Martha (Jim) Mather of Richland, Wash.
He is best remembered by his grandchildren as a tireless reader aloud, expert sword fighter and master Go-Fish player. He will be greatly missed by those seven grandchildren, Stephanie Krepinevich, Meta Hogan, Marjorie Hogan, Martin Hogan, Mark Wingard, Nathan Mather and Stephen Mather.
<B>FISHER</B> — Roy R. Fisher, who died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, will be remembered by friends and family at 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Main Street, Evans City.
