Violet Mary Moon

Violet Mary Moon, 69, of 101 Old Mercer Road, Volant, Springfield Township, formerly of Mercer County and California, died at 2:50 p.m. Thursday at the home of her sister, Laurel Rendos, after a 9-month illness.

Born in Butler County, Sept. 20, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Ransom Moon Sr. and the late Mary Belle (Swope) Moon.

She was employed at USIS, U.S. Investigation Service, in Grove City.

She was a Protestant.

She was a graduate of Ambassador College in Pasadena, Calif., where she had been employed after graduation as a computer typesetter.

Surviving are seven sisters, Elizabeth Brown of Wadsworth, Ohio, Velda Jean Hornung of Rock Hill, S.C., Rose Barkley of Polk, Rachel Christie Stark of Yuca Valley, Calif., Laurel Rendos of Volant, Barbara Mathieson of Grove City and Doralee Ferona of Denver, Colo.; and three brothers, George D. Moon of Portersville, Robert Moon of Norman, Okla., and Harrison "Bud" Moon of Volant.

<B>MOON </B>— Friends of Violet Mary Moon, who died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 1778 Perry Highway, Leesburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Gomola of the Leesburg Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at the Crestview Memorial Park in Grove City.
