Dr. Richard J. Bosco, D.M.D., 62, of Fenelton died Friday afternoon at his home following complications from a brain tumor.

Born Jan. 18, 1946, in New Kensington, he was a son of the late Richard F. and Jama M. Revi Bosco.

Dr. Bosco was a veteran of the Navy, having served in the Vietnam War.

Dr. Bosco was a graduate of Ford City High School, St. Vincent College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Following his completion of a residency in oral surgery at the former St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, he was a partner for 30 years in the Quad County Maxillofacial Associates with offices in Butler, Kittanning and Grove City.

Dr. Bosco was a staff physician at Butler Memorial Hospital, ACMH Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He was board certified by the American Board of Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Board of Quality Assurance Utilization Review Physicians. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the American Association of Oral-Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Association of Oral-Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral-Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Society of Dental Anesthesiologists. He was an associate fellow of the Academy of Gp Orthodontics, had numerous publications and had won several awards.

Dr. Bosco was a member of the St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville, where he was a Eucharistic minister.

He was an avid outdoorsman and had achieved the taking of the "big five dangerous game" in Africa. He enjoyed the mountains of Potter County, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Teri A. Ochs Bosco, who he married Oct. 2, 1971; a son, Richard J. Bosco and his wife, Jessica, of Butler; a daughter, Jenna A. Bosco and Dr. Andrew Hall of Chicago; two granddaughters, Abigail and Amelia Bosco; a brother, Lewis Bosco and his wife, Barbara, of Hancock, Mich.; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Janet Ochs of Kittanning.

<B>BOSCO — </B>Friends of Dr. Richard J. Bosco, D.M.D., who died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville with the Rev. Kenneth Kezmarsky, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Parish Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the St. John's Tower Fund, 668 S. Clearfield Road, Fenelton, PA 16034.
