Kathy Dillaman, associate director of federal investigative services for the Office of Personel Management, was recently selected by President Bush as a recipient of the 2008 Presidential Rank Award. The prestigious award represents the top achievement for senior executive service members in the Federal Government. Dillaman of Boyers was among 61 distinguished award recipients chosen.She has worked as a senior executive at OPM since 1999. In her role as associate director, she has been tasked with overhauling the government's security clearance process. In 2008, she successfully eliminated the backlog of cases more than 180 days old, due largely to a lack of staff and resources.Dillaman was born in Grove City and attended Slippery Rock University. She and her husband, Garry, have two children and one grandchild.
Butler, Cranberry Township and Grove City were among police departments to win awards Wednesday from the AAA East Central.<B>State police in Butler</B> and the Cranberry Township Police received platinum awards for their safety efforts. The two departments participated in the Community Traffic Safety Program.<B>Grove City police</B> received a gold award, and <B>Butler city police</B> received a commendation.The awards were given to those who do traffic safety promotions and educate the public on safety topics.AAA East Central serves West Virginia, Ohio, New York and Kentucky.———This year's annual <B>CROP Walk</B> was held Oct. 12 to fight world hunger and raised $2,864.56.Seventy-eight walkers, representing 10 churches and the agencies of Passavant and Glade Run, took part in the event and raised $2,864.56. The money was sent to Church World Service, which will return 25 percent for Zelienople community needs.———<B>Judith Devers</B> of Valencia hit the jackpot of $115,010 Oct. 19 at the Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington.
