Holiday show set at Miller
SLIPPERY ROCK — The upcoming performance in the Slippery Rock University 2008-09 Performing Arts Series will be by The Four Freshmen.
The vocal group will deliver a holiday show of vocal harmonies at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in Miller Auditorium on campus.
The SRU Jazz Ensemble will be featured in this show.
The Four Freshmen placed No. 1 in the "Best Vocal Group" category for the 2007 Jazz Times Readers poll. The group is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. The lineup has changed, but the legendary sound continues.
Current members are Bob Ferreira, Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon and Vince Johnson. Ferreira is the veteran of the group, having joined 16 years ago. Eichenberger joined in 1996 and is only the group's third lead singer. Calderon was invited to join the group in 2001 after the Freshmen heard him performing at a jazz club in San Antonio. Johnson, who sings bass, joined in 1999.

All subscription shows begin at 7:30 p.m. in SRU's Miller Auditorium. Free parking is available.
Tickets for The Four Freshmen show are $20 for adults, $18 for children and those 62 or older and $8 for students. Call 724-738-2091.
A preperformance dinner is $24 per person. The meal includes shrimp rubbed with chipotle peppers and roasted garlic, roasted chicken jambone, Mediterranean salad and several desserts.
