The classroom size a long time ago was approximately 28 students per classroom. No one was put in a corner, as a matter of fact, a crippled child was given help by other students, a child with a behavior issue was made to write 100x: "I will behave in class." Students that were poor learners, were accepted as such and told to do the best they could. I don't care what kind of help you give to a poor learner, you cannot get blood out of a turnip. The whole concept of education has changed and not for the better. What about the days we hear of in a one room schoolhouse, where children felt blessed to hold a book in their hand? Education went down hill, people have changed and have developed a nasty attitude because of it. We are a selfish nation! With the way education is forced with so many laws, it has accomplished more children being put on disabilities and in return more taxes are taken. New and improved? For who? Also Tilly, the treatment you spoke of may have happened in some places, but I don't believe that was everywhere. I wasn't in Butler when I went to school. I came from a more civilized area. Which reminds me, after what I have seen in Butler, I would like ALL educators to get a mental health evaluation, no matter what their IQ is. How about that?
