Nope, I am a teacher. I would not hide that fact and throughout past postings regarding education have always been very open about that fact. Sorry if any posting that I made was misleading. I think that most regulars on here already know that I am, as I have posted on here, off and on, for quite some time. I usually try to write that I am a teacher in every post, to be fair regarding my views. AND I didn't say anything about them deserving a raise, I said that I feel that good teachers should be paid accordingly. There is a difference. I think that was a misinterpretation. Gloria, what was the class size at the catholic school that you attended? Comparing school then with school now is a whole new ball game. Students with severe disabilities were not kept in the regular classroom but were shuttled to some unknown corner of the school. (That happened in my day, which was not all that long ago.) I am pretty sure that the students that attend these private schools are screened for these types of disabilities and directed to attend other schools. Maybe things have changed but friends of mine had to move their child from their catholic school 2 years ago because of behavior issues at the suggestion of the school. Another friend of mine, that chose the catholic school road, has a class size of 10 students. I have 24 in the same grade. She has no children with disabilites. I have 6. There are a lot of differences between the two and yes, money is one of them. I would love a smaller class size and the ability to give 1 on 1 to every student. Unfortunately, this is not going to happen any time in the near future.
