E. Mae Rothen
E. Mae Rothen, 69, of Emlenton died at 12:56 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Mrs. Rothen was born in Wexford on April 23, 1939. She was the daughter of William G. and Mary Elser.
She was a longtime active member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Emlenton. She was a member of the church's Altar Rosary Society, Soup Group and PURLS ministry. She enjoyed collecting prayer books and working puzzles.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed the company of her family and friends.
Mrs. Rothen married Carl F. Rothen Jr. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot on Oct. 6, 1962. Mr. Rothen, who she loved, adored and missed very much, preceded her in death Dec. 19, 2004.
Mrs. Rothen is survived by two sons and their wives, Neal C. and Margaret Rothen and Eric G. and Mary Rothen, all of Emlenton; and two daughters and their husbands, Carla S. and Doug Cratty of Connoquenessing and Amy and Raymond Kaufman of Parker. Ten grandchildren survive: Erika, Justin and Kiersten Rothen of Emlenton; Kevin, Danielle and Emily Kaufman of Parker; and Jessica, Brittany, Rebecca and Jordan Cratty of Connoquenessing. She also is survived by two brothers and their wives, James "Jim" and Mildred Elser of Wexford and Albert "Burt" and Iris Elser of Slippery Rock; a sister, Lois Gass of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Elser.

Mae Rothen, who died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the <B>Hile Funeral Home Inc</B>., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Chestnut Street, Emlenton, with Monsignor Jan Olowin, church pastor, officiating.
