Library raises funds for addition

The second Mars Public Library

Touch-a-Truck fundraiser Oct. 18 collected $1,500 for the library, which is in an expansion project.Vehicles available for touching and getting in included fire trucks, a hearse, a horse trailer, the Butler County Bookmobile and a cement mixer.Funds raised will pay for furnishing the library's new addition, which has been built, carpeted and painted. Officials hope to raise enough funds to complete the addition by early 2009.Last year the event raised about $850.———

Marie Jones of Cranberry Township, a senior partner with the law firm of Meyer, Darragh, Buckler, Bebenek and Eck, was recently inducted into the Duquesne University Century Club of Distinguished Alumni. The club was established to recognize graduates who demonstrate the spirit of the university through their professional and societal contributions.Jones is a defense trial attorney. She lives with her husband, Cameron Jones, in Cranberry Township.———

Victoria Mysliwiec of Butler was recently named second runner up for the Pennsylvania Junior Miss Scholarship program Nov. 2 at the Greater Johnstown High School.Mysliwiec is the daughter of Tom and Tammy Mysliwiec of Butler and is a senior at Slippery Rock HighSchool.———Winners at the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club Oct. 30 were:First:
