Seneca Valley senior Cam Stauffer placed 15th overall at the PIAA Class AAA boys cross country championships Saturday in Hershey with a time of 16 minutes and 40 seconds.

Butler senior Ben Porter was 32nd with a time of 16:59, while Grove City was paced by Jacob Kildoo's 17th-place time of 16:45.

Knoch's Brian Tackett was 107th (17:37).

Grove City's boys placed 21st as a team.

In the girls Class AAA meet, Knoch, which placed ninth in the team standings, was led by Jolene Kunkel's 21st-place finish at 19:42.

SV's Megan Powell was 22nd at 19:42.

Butler sophomore Ashton Dolan placed 128th with a time of 21:04, while Grove City's Sara Chuzie was 177th at 21:33.

In boys' Class AA action, Slippery Rock's Jacob Spurk managed a time of 18:01, good for 67th place. Owen Bowser was 79th with a time of 18:06.

Karns City was led by Ethan McGarvey's 240th finish at 19:35.

Slippery Rock's Jessica Bennett placed 30th (20:21) in the girls' Class AA event.

Grove City's Bobby McKnight tallied the Eagles' lone score in a 5-1 loss to Harbor Creek Saturday in the District 10 Class AA championship game at Erie Veterans Stadium.Elias Lite assisted McKnight's goal.

Elise Held, who resides near Saxonburg and is a student at Vincentian Academy, finished third at the PIAA Class AA Tennis Singles Championship Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club.Held was defeated by Lower Moreland's Madison Cohen in the semifinals by scores of 6-0, 6-2.Held then rebounded by beating California's Sarah Shashura in the third-place consolation match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Four senior hockey players at Butler High School are starring for Ford City's team.Justin O'Donnell, Tanner Master, R.C. Double and Pat Wellner are lacing up for the Sabers because Butler does not have a varsity team.In recent wins over Connellsville (9-2) and Ligonier Valley (8-5), O'Donnell recorded both wins in net while saving 31 of 38 shots.Master tallied six goals and three assists, Double had four goals and three assists and Wellner scored one goal.
