Buffalo man killed in motorcycle crash

PLUM, Allegheny County — A26-year-old Butler County man was killed Sunday afternoon after the motorcycle he was driving struck another vehicle in this borough about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Plum Borough Ambulance medics pronounced Matthew Petrosky of Buffalo Township dead at the scene at 1:33 p.m., according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

The cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy today, authorities said.

Investigators said Petrosky was traveling west on Hulton Road shortly before 1:30 p.m. when he lost control of his cycle and collided with the other vehicle at Kirkpatrick Drive.

Petrosky, who police suspect was not wearing a helmet since no helmet was found at the scene, was thrown off the motorcycle. No other information about the crash was available.

Plum police Chief Frank Monaco did not return a telephone message left at his office this morning.

Sunday's crash was the second fatality in as many days in the borough.

A 22-year-old Penn Hills man was killed early Saturday morning after crashing a car into a wall near the intersection of Universal Road and Franklin Drive.

The crash Saturday occurred not far from where Petrosky died.

Petrosky, meanwhile, was injured July 20 when he swerved his motorcycle to avoid a deer and crashed into a utility pole along Reimer Road in Winfield Township.

State police said Petrosky, who was wearing a helmet, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries in that accident.
