Robert D. "Skip" Clinton Sr., 85, of Mars, formerly of Gibsonia, died Monday morning at his residence.

Born in Bakerstown, Sept. 19, 1923, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Conley Clinton.

He was a dispatcher for Peoples Gas, now Dominion, in Gibsonia.

He had attended the Mars Alliance Church and was a member of the Cranberry Elks, the Harmony Moose and John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a private with Co. I, 346th Infantry Regiment. He was past commander of both the Mars VFW Post 7505 and the Richland American Legion Post 548. He also volunteered at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia V. Georgic Clinton, whom he married April 25, 1979; a son, Robert D. Clinton Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Cranberry Township; a daughter, Carol Thompson and her husband, Donald, in Florida; a stepson, Michael Hatfield in Murrysville; and a stepdaughter, Kellie Conetsco and her husband, Len, in Ohio. He was the grandfather of Nicole Clinton Woolslare; great-grandfather of Isabel and Scarlett Woolslare; and stepgrandfather of Amanda Mitiever, Austin and Marissa Hatfield.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Hugh and Eugene; and his sisters, Margaret Colpo, Eleanor Johnson and Grace Clinton.

<B>CLINTON</B> — Friends of Robert D. "Skip" Clinton Sr., who died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Cope, pastor of the Mars Alliance Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.The Mars VFW will conduct services at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.The John E.
