Curran

Frederick Lorenzo Curran, 95, of Mount View in Franklin Township passed away at 8:40 a.m. Monday at Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born in Menomonie, Wis., June 9, 1913, he was the son of the late Fred L. Curran and Ada May Kelsey Curran.

Mr. Curran was a retired high school teacher for the Detroit Public Schools.

Mr. Curran was a longtime member of Westminster Church of Detroit and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. Mr. Curran was active with Meals on Wheels and volunteered for the Red Cross.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

Mr. Curran enjoyed repairing and refinishing furniture, and he was an accomplished musician. In his earlier years, he played in a jazz band.

Mr. Curran is survived by his second wife, Marian Knepper Curran, who he married Nov. 23, 1990; one son, Charles Curran and his wife, Claudia, of Parker, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Trebilcock and her husband, John, of Haslett, Mich.; two stepchildren, Mary Reefer and her husband, John, of Butler and Werner Duecker and his wife, Carol, of Littleton, Colo.; five grandchildren, Julie Trebilcock Swager and her husband, Eric, James Trebilcock, John Curran, Patrick Curran and Caitlin Curran; three step-grandchildren, Jason Reefer, Karen DeLorenzo and her husband, Matt, and Beth Reefer; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Curran was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion E. Wedge, who he married Feb. 15, 1947. She passed away Jan. 17, 1980. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Curran Nutter and Elizabeth Curran Stein.

<B>CURRAN</B> — There will be visitation for Frederick Lorenzo Curran, who died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. James Swanson officiating. Interment will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Mich.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church's music program, 230 E.
